A walk around Haworth in bloom
Will help to lift a sense of gloom.
A Sunday stroll along Main Street
Where my heroes placed their own feet
Can calm the mind and soothe the soul
Of those grieving or not quite whole.
This is home to more than just three
Sisters who dared to dream and be
So much more than just Miss Brontë.
The church bells ring as people sing
And give thanks to joys life can bring.
I think of my departed friend
And pass the place I marked his end.
Then he whispers in my ear
To let me know he is near.
As I see my new friend enter
Glebe House, no ill the old will bear
Because dear reader, he sent her.

Thanks for reading. I’d love it if you stopped by The Journal of Juvenilia Studies where you can read my essay, “Autobiography, Wish-Fulfilment, and Juvenilia. The ‘Fractured Self’ in Charlotte Brontë’s Paracosmic Counterworld”.
